Azooka Labs is one such start-up that was incubated by the Society for Innovation and Development on the Indian Institute of Science (IISc.) in Bengaluru.
The funds which might be at the moment obtained by deep science ventures floated by startups in India are inadequate due to the shortage of understanding of the science and expertise spectrum, mentioned Prof. B. Gurumoorthy, Chief Executive, Society for Innovation and Development (SID), Indian Institute of Science (IISc.), Bengaluru.
Deep Science start-ups had been problem-oriented and map to at the least one of the sustainable improvement objectives, he mentioned.
“Support for such ventures is inadequate. One of the reasons is the lack of understanding of the underlying science and technology that tends to be diverse and complex,” he added.
According to Prof. Gurumoorthy, Honeywell’s CSR grant has helped 9 start-ups and three EIRs (entrepreneur in residence) in various areas comparable to vitality, water, medtech, and packaging supplies.
Honeywell’s philanthropic arm, Honeywell Hometown Solutions India Foundation (HHSIF), in partnership with SID, has funded and incubated 30 start-ups since 2019. These start-ups are targeted on discovering options in the fields of biotechnology, healthcare, and nanotechnology which have the potential to provide superior scientific options to some of the urgent wants in healthcare and surroundings.
They embody Azooka Labs, HealthSeq Precision Medicine, Equine Biotech, Protein Design, Siamaf Healthcare, Mimyk Medical Simulations, PathShodh Healthcare, Theranautilus and OpenWater, which concentrate on topics starting from extremely superior healthcare to sustainability.
Interestingly, most of these startups are led by both ladies or groups which might be from the underprivileged communities.
