A 3-year-old woman was allegedly raped by a ragpicker at a railway station in Navi Mumbai, an official from the Government Railway Police (GRP) mentioned on Monday.
The incident came about at Panvel railway station within the early hours of March 2, when the kid was sleeping along with her mom within the premises, senior inspector Pravin Padvai of the Panvel GRP mentioned.
The accused picked the woman up, took her apart and raped her. The mom later discovered the kid crying at a distance, he mentioned.
The kid’s dad and mom approached the police with a grievance in opposition to the accused, who was arrested inside hours, the official mentioned.
A case underneath part 376 (rape) of the Indian Penal Code and related provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act has been registered in opposition to the accused, he mentioned.
