Noted Malayalam film director and commercial filmmaker, V A Shrikumar Menon has been arrested for allegedly dishonest a enterprise group to the tune of Rs 5 crore, Alappuzha police officers mentioned on Friday.
The Odiyan director was taken into custody from his home in northern Palakkad district on Thursday evening and his arrest was recorded in Alappuzha, Kerala on Friday, they mentioned.
The arrest was made after the district courtroom rejected an anticipatory bail moved by Menon in the dishonest case filed by the group for duping them of a minimum of Rs 5 crore on the pretext of manufacturing a film.
Alappuzha deputy superintendent of police, D Ok Prithewiraj, instructed PTI that the filmmaker was booked underneath Section 420 (dishonest and dishonestly inducing supply of the property) of the IPC.
Shrikumar Menon, identified for his commercials of varied common manufacturers together with well-known jewelry, had been arrested in 2019 for allegedly intimidating and defaming actress Manju Warrier on social media.
He was then launched on bail on two solvent sureties.
Menon entered the movie world by directing the Mohanlal-Manju Warrier starrer Odiyan, which didn’t take off on the field workplace.
