New Delhi: The Election Commission of India announced the dates of Assembly elections of five states including West Bengal. Elections in Bengal will be held in eight phases from 27th March to 29th April. After the announcement of dates, Mamta Banerjee has raised questions on the Election Commission claiming that the eight-phase voting in Bengal was part of a “conspiracy” by the Centre’s ruling BJP but the Congress has welcomed the decision of the Election Commission.

West Bengal Congress President Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary said, “We have requested the Election Commission that during the elections in West Bengal, the security arrangements should be made so that people can participate in the elections without fear. So the Election Commission has decided that in Bengal 8 There will be elections in phases. “

Mamata Banerjee Slams Bengal’s Marathon Polls

Asking the Election Commission on why the Bengal elections are being conducted in eight phases, Didi said, “From BJP party sources, I have seen the list of poll dates they wanted. And now I have seen the list out in the public. They are the same. I am sorry. I am shocked. Are Bengal poll dates suggested by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Amit Shah?”

Bengal will begin voting on March 27 but unlike Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Assam, and Puducherry, it will have eight phases spread over a record 33 days before the May 2 results.

“I am the only one woman chief minister in the country… I will win… and then Modi and Shah, you watch the battle in the 2024 general elections. We will fight it and how,” Ms Banerjee said, adding, “you will face the music for this blunder.”
