Mamata Banerjee leads, Suvendu Adhikari trails in Nandigram, Trinamool heavyweights make big gains in West Bengal

Kolkata: Adding a brand new twist to the West Bengal meeting election 2021, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee who was earlier trailing in the celebrated Nandigram seat, was now main by over 2700 votes towards her BJP rival Suvendu Adhikari after a number of rounds of the couting of votes on Sunday (May 2, 2021).

While West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was earlier trailing behind BJP’s Suvendu Adhikari in Nandigram, the tendencies after the fourth spherical of counting confirmed that the opposite Trinamool Congress heavyweights had been making big leads in their respective Assembly constituencies.

Even after the fourth spherical of counting, CM Mamata Banerjee was trailing behind her one-time aide Adhikari in Nandigram in the East Midnapore district by a margin of three,710 votes.

As per the newest Election Commission knowledge, Adhikari, who had jumped ship from the Trinamool to the BJP in December final 12 months, had obtained 34,430 votes towards Banerjee`s 30,655 after the fifth rounds of counting.

Banerjee, who had gained the final two elections from the Bhowanipur Assembly constituency in Kolkata, left her seat this time and determined to contest from Nandigram. 

Adhikari, who was an vital minister in Banerjee`s cupboard earlier than defecting to the BJP, had gained from Nandigram in the 2016 elections on a Trinamool ticket.

Though Banerjee initially seemed to be trailing, the Trinamool Congress was exhibiting indicators of cruising to a big victory with most of its main candidates main in their respective seats. Apart from that, Panchayat Minister Subrata Mukherjee is main from the Ballygunge constituency, IT Minister Bratya Basu is main from Dum Dum in North 24 Parganas, Urban Development Minister and former Mayor Firhad Hakim is main from Kolkata Port constituency, Food Minister Jyotipriaya Mullick is main from Habra, whereas Minister of State for Women and Child Health Shashi Panja in main from the Jorasanko constituency in North Kolkata.

Alternatively, Tourism Minister Goutam Deb is trailing from the Dabgram-Phulbari constituency in the Jalpaiguri district, whereas Labour Minister Moloy Ghatak is trailing from the Asansol South constituency in East Burdwan district. 

Minister of State for Fire Sujit Basu can also be trailing from the Bidhananagar constituency. BJP`s Nisith Pramanik is main towards Trinamool heavyweight Udyayan Guha from the Dinhata Assembly constituency in Cooch Behar district.

Heavyweight BJP candidates like Swapan Dasgupta, Locket Chatterjee, Biashali Dalmia, Rahul Sinha, Babul Supriyo and Samik Bhattacharya are all trailing in their respective constituencies.
