Man Arrested from Jamui For Spreading Fake Videos Of Attacks On Bihar Migrants | India News


A person was arrested from Bihar’s Jamui district on Monday for allegedly sharing on social media pretend movies of alleged assaults on migrant employees from the state in Tamil Nadu, police stated.

The Economic Offence Unit (EOU) of the Bihar Police has booked 4 individuals in reference to the case, they stated in a press release.

Those named within the case have been recognized as Aman Kumar, Rakesh Tiwary, Yuvraj Singh Rajput and Manish Kashyap. Aman Kumar, a resident of Laxmipur in Jamui district, was arrested whereas a search is on for the remaining, police stated.

“An investigation by the EOU has revealed that the accused were indulging in spreading fake videos of migrants being killed and beaten up in Tamil Nadu on social media,” the assertion stated.

Thirty such movies have been extensively shared on social media, forcing migrant employees from Bihar flee Tamil Nadu in panic, police stated.

Notices have been despatched to service suppliers for preserving 42 such movies — 9 on Facebook, 15 every on Twitter and YouTube, and three on Gmail — for additional investigation, they stated.

“A 10-member team of the EOU is analysing these videos,” police stated, including that these posting and sharing such movies for spreading rumours will likely be handled strictly.

The Bihar authorities has despatched a four-member crew of high officers to Tamil Nadu to coordinate with officers who have been investigating the matter there.
