The Mumbai police have registered a separate case under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act in opposition to a person who assaulted an on-duty traffic constable right here, an official mentioned on Friday.
The accused Jatin Satara (35) had allegedly abused and used foul language, whereas assaulting traffic constable Dyneshawar Wagh (32), who had requested him to take away his scooter, which was obstructing traffic in Mulund (west) on Thursday, the official mentioned.
Satara, who was with no masks, began arguing with the constable and talked about a specific neighborhood whereas abusing him, he mentioned.
Following this, a separate FIR under related sections of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act was registered, he mentioned.
A video of the incident had gone viral on social media, it was acknowledged.
The accused, who was arrested under related sections of the IPC and Disaster Management Act (in drive because of the COVID-19 outbreak), was later launched on bail.
