‘Manish Sisodia’s Ward Has Minimum Inmates, No Gangsters…’: Jail Authorities Reject AAP’s ‘Murder’ Charges


New Delhi: Hours after AAP leaders alleged a risk to Manish Sisodia’s life in Tihar jail, the Delhi Prison authorities on Wednesday rejected the Aam Aadmi Party’s allegations as “unfounded”. The leaders of the Arvind Kejriwal-led social gathering claimed that they’re afraid of the “murder” of former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia as a result of he’s being held within the Tihar Jail with “dreaded criminals” in reference to an alleged excise coverage rip-off. Sisodia was allegedly concerned within the rip-off. Reacting to the allegation, the Delhi Prison mentioned former deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia has been lodged in a ward of Central Jail No. 1 of Tihar the place there are a minimal variety of inmates and no gangsters. 

The response was issued by the jail administration after statements have been made by AAP MP Sanjay Singh and MLA Saurabh Bharadwaj. 

According to Saurabh Bharadwaj, nationwide spokesperson for the AAP, Sisodia is being held in a cell with different convicts and has not been given a “Vipassana” cell.

“There was a request for Manish Sisodia to be kept in the vipassana cell of the jail and the same was approved by the court. Despite the court’s approval, Sisodia has been kept with criminals in jail number 1. The Centre must give an answer,” Bharadwaj mentioned.

In its response, the jail authorities issued an announcement saying “Manish Sisodia has been assigned to a segregated ward keeping his security in mind. The ward…Has minimum number of inmates who are not gangsters and are maintaining good conduct inside the jail.”

According to jail officers, a separate cell makes it potential for him to meditate or do such different actions with none disturbance. “All the arrangements, as per jail rules, are in place to ensure his safety and security. Any aspersions cast about his lodgings is unfounded,” an official added.

Sisodia was arrested by the CBI within the excise coverage rip-off case. He is presently in judicial custody.

The courtroom had allowed the senior chief of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) to hold the Bhagavad Gita, spectacles and medicines to jail, and directed the Tihar authorities to think about his request to be allowed to do vipassana meditation.
