Matter will be taken ‘seriously’: Govt asks Bengal to send report on post-poll violence ASAP

Mamata Banerjee’s third stint as West Bengal chief minister has began with an intense confrontation with the Centre over the post-poll violence within the state. The Union Home Ministry dispatched a terse reminder to the Bengal authorities on Wednesday to submit an in depth report on the violence.

The ministry warned the state authorities that failure to send the report quickly will be taken ‘significantly’, whereas including that the violence should cease ‘with none lack of time’.

In a letter dispatched on Wednesday, the house ministry reminded the West Bengal chief secretary that on May 3, it had sought a direct a report on the post-poll violence within the state. However, the West Bengal authorities is but to send the report, information company PTI reported quoting officers, as saying.

In case the report just isn’t despatched by the state authorities, the matter will be taken significantly, the letter mentioned.

Mamata blames BJP 

In an obvious try to skirt the duty over the post-poll violence in state, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday blamed the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for bloody clashes.
