Meghalaya Elections 2023: BSF Seizes Over 20 Lakh Cash Near Bangladesh Border


Shillong: A day after Meghalaya’s worldwide border with Bangladesh was sealed forward of the February 27 Assembly elections, the BSF seized an enormous quantity money from close to the zero line in East Khasi Hills district, an officer stated on Sunday. Elections to the 59 meeting constituencies in Meghalaya will likely be held on Monday from 7 am to 4 pm and the votes will likely be counted on March 2.

Acting on suspicious motion, BSF seized an enormous amount of money from close to the worldwide border in two separate operations previously 48 hours, a BSF officer instructed PTI.

In the primary occasion, the BSF deployed in Hat Thymmai space of the Indo-Bangladesh border seized a bag containing 18 lakh Bangladesh Taka. The service escaped profiting from the thick vegetation and darkness, he stated.

The Election Commission had issued instructions to the enforcement companies to close the worldwide and interstate border from February 24 until March 2 within the state in view of the Meghalaya elections.
