A Surat courtroom had on March 23 sentenced Rahul Gandhi, who represented the Wayanad parliamentary constituency in Kerala, to 2 years in jail after convicting him below sections 499 and 500 of the Indian Penal Code for prison defamation within the case filed by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Purnesh Modi.
