New Delhi: The Delhi authorities’s Public Works Department, on Saturday (February 25), demolished non secular buildings together with a mosque and a temple situated on a footpath in central Delhi as a part of an anti-encroachment drive. The non secular buildings have been constructed on the footpath as per experiences and a courtroom ordered to have them demolished, an official advised PTI. A Public Works division official mentioned, “The drive is being carried out to remove religious structures that have been constructed on the footpath. There are court orders on this.”
During the raze drive, safety personnel was deployed to take care of legislation and order.

As a part of anti-encroachment drives throughout town, the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) in February had begun a demolition drive to take away encroachment from its land at Ladha Sarai village in Mehrauli Archaeological Park. This led to widespread protests by residents of the realm. The DDA mentioned that the park housed about 55 monuments below the safety of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) and the state archeological division of Delhi.
Residents of the realm protested in opposition to the DDA raze drive and claimed that they’d been dwelling there for many years and now have been rendered homeless in a single day. The drive was halted by Delhi Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena on February 14. People whose properties have been already razed expressed their monetary wrestle and claimed that lease in surrounding areas had shot up, as per a Moneycontrol report. This, they mentioned, solely added to their distress.
