New Delhi: The Delhi’s authorities’s General Administration Department (GAD) had earlier declared Muharram holiday on August 19 (Thursday), however modified it to Friday following a Union authorities’s determination on this connection. “Government of India, Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pension, has revised the holiday on account of Muharram from Thursday to Friday. “Accordingly, holiday on account of Muharram is asserted on Friday (August 20, 2021) for all authorities workplaces beneath Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi,” an order issued by town authorities mentioned.
The Assam authorities, in a press launch on Wednesday (August 18), has mentioned that the federal government has declared half day on August 20 on account of Muharram within the state.Â
Meanwhile, a number of states have cancelled the Muharram procession so as to comprise the unfold of COVID-19. The Uttar Pradesh authorities had directed all of the district authorities not to permit any spiritual procession within the state to cut back the unfold of COVID-19. The Karnataka authorities has banned all Muharram processions till August 20.
