Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport to remain shut till 8 pm due to cyclone Tauktae

Mumbai: The metropolis’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA), which had earlier determined to preserve all operations shut till 4 pm on Monday in view of the cyclone alert, has now prolonged the closure interval to 8 pm.

“As the result of the cyclone alert, the closure of the operations at the airport has now been further extended till 2000 hours (8pm) on May 17,” CSMIA stated in its newest operations replace, in accordance to information company PTI.

After asserting the suspension of all flight service on the facility from 11 am to 2 pm, initially, the non-public airport later prolonged it to 4 pm.

Further, three city-bound flights operated by funds carriers IndiGo and SpiceJet have been diverted due to the closure of all companies on the metropolis airport.

A city-bound IndiGo flight was diverted to Hyderabad and a SpiceJet flight to Surat, whereas one IndiGo flight was despatched again to Lucknow, as per CSMIA.

India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Mumbai, warning of very heavy rains at remoted locations with robust winds on Monday as cyclone Tauktae is probably going to cross shut to the Mumbai coast.

Gusty winds and rains lashed Mumbai and its neighbouring areas in a single day and on Monday morning because the cyclonic storm was heading in the direction of Gujarat, officers stated.
