NASA hands over NISAR satellite to ISRO

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has obtained the NASA-ISRO SAR (NISAR) satellite from the U.S. area company. NISAR is a Low Earth Orbit observatory collectively developed by NASA and ISRO.

According to ISRO, NISAR will map your complete globe in 12 days and supply spatially and temporally constant information for understanding modifications in Earth’s ecosystems, ice mass, vegetation biomass, sea degree rise, groundwater and pure hazards, together with earthquakes, tsunamis, volcanoes and landslides.

NISAR carries L and S dual-band Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR), which operates with the Sweep SAR approach to obtain massive swaths with high-resolution information. The SAR payloads mounted on Integrated Radar Instrument Structure (IRIS) and the spacecraft bus are collectively known as an observatory.

Last month, NASA stated since early 2021, engineers and technicians at Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) in Southern California have been integrating and testing NISAR’s two radar methods — the L-band SAR offered by JPL and the S-band SAR constructed by ISRO.

The U.S. area company had stated the SUV-size payload could be moved right into a particular cargo container for a 14,000-kilometer flight to Bengaluru.

The last integration of the satellite will likely be carried out on the U.R. Rao Satellite Centre in Bengaluru, and ISRO is wanting to launch the satellite in 2024 from Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota.
