One-sided matches were the order of the day yet again in the Hockey India-Thirteenth senior National men’s championship here on Tuesday.
Karnataka outplayed Bihar 12-1 in Pool C whereas Manipur eased previous J&Okay 15-1 for its second successive win in Pool E.
In different matches, Bengal opened its marketing campaign with a 3-1 victory over Madhya Pradesh whereas Andhra Pradesh beat Goans 3-1 in Pool F.
Manipur impressed with its structured play. It pumped in 9 objectives in the first half (5 in first quarter and 4 in second). It maintained the momentum in the third, scoring 4 and slowed down a bit in the fourth and final quarter with simply two objectives.
Favourite Punjab will play its first match in opposition to Maharashtra in Pool D on Tuesday after its contest in opposition to Tripura was forfeited the different day when the latter failed to show up.
