Newcastle routs Tottenham 6-1, boosts Champions League hopes

Newcastle surprised Tottenham in a 6-1 rout within the Premier League on Sunday.

In a conflict between two groups hoping to safe Champions League qualification for subsequent season, Newcastle raced to a 5-0 lead inside 21 minutes at St James’ Park.

Jacob Murphy and Alexander Isak each scored twice in an explosive opening, with Joelinton including one other.

Harry Kane pulled one again for Spurs, however Callum Wilson struck once more for Newcastle.

Murphy fired Newcastle forward within the second minute and Joelinton doubled the house staff’s lead within the sixth.
