Nine states, together with Michigan and Nebraska, have joined a U.S. Department of Justice lawsuit towards Alphabet’s Google which alleges the search and promoting firm broke antitrust regulation in operating its digital promoting enterprise, the division stated on Monday.
The states becoming a member of the lawsuit had been Arizona, Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Washington and West Virginia, the division stated.
The authorities, which filed the advert tech lawsuit in January together with eight states, had argued that Google must be pressured to promote its advert supervisor suite as a result of it illegally abused its dominance of internet advertising. Google has denied any wrongdoing and has requested Judge Leonie Brinkema within the Eastern District of Virginia to dismiss the lawsuit.
The Justice Department’s advert tech lawsuit adopted a separate lawsuit filed in 2020, on the finish of the Trump administration, that accused Google of violating antitrust regulation to keep up its dominance in search. That case goes to trial in September.
