Niranjan Hiranandani, co-founder and managing director of Mumbai-based actual property developer Hiranandani Group, has sought one week extra time on health grounds from the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to appear before it for questioning in a international alternate violation case, sources stated.
Niranjan Hiranandani has stated that medical doctors have suggested him for no less than a week’s relaxation as he suffers from a hearth-related challenge and is being handled for a similar. Meanwhile, his son Darshan Hiranandani has sought time until March 4 to appear before the probing company.
Apart from this, clarifying on experiences that each Niranjan Hiranandani and his son, have been issued a summon by the ED for February 26, they stated, “no summons were received for February 26 by any member of the Hiranandani group. All details were provided to ED and further details shall be provided (if required). We will continue to cooperate fully. The group remains confident that this 15-year-old matter poses no FEMA violations by the group whatsoever.”
On rumours that Niranjan Hiranandani or Darshan are residents of Cyprus, they clarified, “neither of them have ever been citizens of any country except India and remain Indian citizens as well. Any suggestion made otherwise is false and malicious.”
Darshan Hiranandani has been residing in Dubai for the final a few years.
About 4 premises of the Hiranandani Group in and round Mumbai have been searched by the ED final week below the provisions of the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA).
Apart from some international transactions, the company is alleged to be probing the beneficiaries of a British Virgin Islands (BVI)-based belief allegedly linked to the Hiranandani Group promoters. The group has stated it is going to cooperate with the ED in this FEMA investigation.
Official sources stated the ED probe is just not linked to one other FEMA investigation being carried out in opposition to TMC chief Mahua Moitra, who was expelled as a Lok Sabha MP in December final 12 months.
BJP MP Nishikant Dubey had accused Moitra of asking questions in the Lok Sabha to goal the Adani Group and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the behest of Darshan Hiranandani in alternate for items. Dubey had additionally accused Moitra of compromising nationwide safety for financial features.
