‘No Chautha For Rajiv Kapoor Due To COVID-19 Pandemic ‘, Informs Neetu Singh


Late actor Rajiv Kapoor’s sister-in-law Neetu Singh took to social media to inform the fans that a chautha ceremony will not be conducted in his memory due to COVID-19 crisis. The ‘Jug Jugg Jeeyo’ actress shared a statement on her official Instagram handle to announce that the Kapoor family has decided to not organize Rajiv Kapoor’s chautha ceremony because of safety reasons.

“Due to current pandemic circumstances, there will be no Chautha held for the Late Mr. Rajiv Kapoor for safety reasons. May his soul rest in peace. The entire Raj Kapoor family is a part of your grief too,” the statement said.

Many tinsel town celebs including Sonali Bendre, Sunil Grover and Maniesh Paul dropped comments on the post.

Rajiv Kapoor passed away on Tuesday (February 9) after suffering a massive cardiac arrest, a report in Indian Express said. He was 58. The likes of Shah Rukh Khan, Alia Bhatt, Chunky Panday and Tara Sutaria arrived at Kapoor’s residence in Chembur after hearing the news of Rajiv’s demise. Alia had to cut short her Maldives vacation and return to Mumbai to attend the last rites of her beau Ranbir Kapoor’s uncle.

Ranbir Kapoor performed the last rites of Rajiv Kapoor, who was known for his role in Raj Kapoor’s ‘Ram Teri Ganga Maili’. The actor had shot for his comeback film titled ‘Toolsidas Junior’. Ashutosh Gowariker, who produced the movie, expressed his grief over Rajiv’s demise on Twitter. He said that he was a fan of Kapoor since his ‘RTGM’ days.

“Saddened to hear about the passing of Rajiv Kapoor! I was a fan from his Ram Teri Ganga Maili days. We had wrapped shoot for my home production TOOLSIDAS JUNIOR, directed by Mridul! Rajiv was so affable and played his part with much fun & ease. Will miss him deeply!!,” the ‘Lagaan’ director wrote on the micro-blogging site.

Kareena Kapoor had shared a throwback picture of her father, uncles and grandmother to mourn Rajiv’s demise. She wrote, “Broken but strong” while posting the photo on social media. Her sister Karisma Kapoor also posted a picture on Insta story to express her gried.

Rajiv’s sister Ritu Nanda and brother Rishi Kapoor passed away last year. Rishi left for his heavenly abode on April 30 after a two-year long battle with leukemia.

Many Bollywood celebs including Akshay Kumar, Madhuri Dixit and Sunny Deol offered their condolences to the grieving family on Twitter.
