No shortage of vaccines in Rajasthan, Centre responds to Gehlot govt

Reacting to reviews that the state might run out of vaccines, the union authorities clarified on Tuesday that there is no such thing as a shortage of Covid-19 vaccines in Rajasthan.

Reports mentioned Rajasthan’s well being and household welfare division had despatched an SOS message to the Centre a couple of paucity of the vaccine doses in the state. It had reportedly requested for a buffer inventory whereas alerting that the present inventory might recover from inside three days which might hamper the on-going immunisation drive towards Covid-19.

To this, the union well being ministry clarified that the state has sufficient vaccine doses at its disposal.

“The factual position is that there is no shortage of COVID-19 vaccine in the state at present. Rajasthan has been supplied 37.61 lakh doses and has consumed only 24.28 lakh doses till yesterday night,” a press release by the ministry of well being and household welfare acknowledged.

“The central government is regularly monitoring availability of vaccine supply in all states and UTs (union territories), and providing the doses as per their requirement and consumption pattern,” it added.

Rajasthan has chosen 67 lakh beneficiaries which incorporates healthcare employees, frontline employees and people among the many prioritised age group. Over 29.9 lakh doses have been administered because the mega vaccination drive started on January 16.

In the present section of vaccination, round 27 crores of the inhabitants aged above 60 or above 45 with co-morbid situations are prioritised by the federal government to obtain the vaccines towards Covid-19.

Vaccination is being supplied free of cost on the authorities well being services whereas it prices Rs 250 in personal services.
