The Tamil Nadu authorities will grant the special licence to serve liquor solely at the venues of international-level sports activities and different such occasions, and never at wedding halls, stated Minister for Electricity, Excise, and Prohibition, V. Senthilbalaji.

Addressing presspersons in Coimbatore on Monday, the Minister stated that the special licence will likely be given if there have been purposes throughout worldwide sports activities occasions taking place within the State. There was a requirement to serve liquor at the IPL match venue in Chennai as performed in different States and so the permission was given, he stated. “The government will never permit serving of liquor at marriages or in wedding halls as reported in a section of the media today,” he stated.
