North India continues to shiver in cold wave, IMD predicts no relief for several days | DETAILS

The cold wave circumstances in North India are ceasing to die down and have been persistent for the previous couple of days. Dense fog surrounded several states of North India together with Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan, the place the visibility remained lower than 50 metres in some areas, affecting regular life and commuting. Air and rail companies have been significantly hit by the cold wave in the area with several trains and flights getting delayed. The Meteorological Department has issued a cold day warning on 31 December in Delhi, UP, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Rajasthan.

According to the IMD, the cold will enhance additional in these states from January 5, 2024. There will likely be no respite from the tough cold until January 11.

North India awakened to dense fog on Saturday (December 30). The IMD stated that dense fog circumstances are seemingly to proceed at many locations until December 31 in Delhi, UP, Bihar, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab, Chandigarh, Uttarakhand, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Odisha, West Bengal, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Assam and Tripura.

Chance of rain and snowfall right here

According to the Meteorological Department, there’s a chance of sunshine rain and snowfall in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand throughout the subsequent 24 hours. Apart from this, there could also be gentle rain in Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh from December 31 to January 2. Besides this, there could also be drizzle at remoted locations in Kerala and Lakshadweep. Heavy rains are anticipated in southern Tamil Nadu throughout this era.
