Odisha: Massive fire breaks out at NTPC’s Kanhia power plant in Talcher

A large fire broke out at NTPC’s Kaniha plant in Odisha’s Angul district, fire officers stated on Saturday. The fire broke out at 8.10 am in the coal transporting conveyor belt of the plant in the Talcher space of the district, they added.

There was no report of any damage in the fire, they stated. The NTPC in an announcement stated that the fire name was rapidly responded to by the CISF fire wing and plant catastrophe staff. The fire has been doused totally and there was no report of any damage, it stated. 

“No person has received any injury apart from minor first aid to one CISF personnel during fire fighting,” the NTPC assertion stated, including that “As a precautionary measure, Unit-3 of 500 MW was taken under shutdown for a brief time to contain the fire. However, the same will be brought to on bar shortly. All other units are normal.”

The reason for the fire and harm is being assessed, an NTPC official stated, including that essential restore work will probably be began quickly. The NTPC appreciated well timed assist from all quarters of the state and district just like the police and fire division.
