The Madhya Pradesh Police have arrested an office-bearer of the now-banned outfit Popular Front of India (PFI) from Bhopal on the cost of conspiring against the federal government and indulging in illegal actions, an official mentioned.
The arrest was made on Friday in reference to a case registered by the State police’s Special Task Force (STF) final 12 months, he mentioned.
“PFI member Wasid Khan (26), a resident of Sheopur, was arrested under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 121A (conspiracy to wage war against govt), 153B (assertions prejudicial to national integration) and 120B (criminal conspiracy) besides the provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act,” the official mentioned.
Khan was related to the PFI and had been attending the organisation’s varied programmes and secret conferences since 2017, he mentioned.
In 2019, Khan joined PFI’s authorized cell National Confederation of Human Rights Organisation (NCHRO) and held the submit of its state common secretary, the official added.
Following his arrest, Khan was offered in a neighborhood courtroom, which remanded him in police custody until February 8.
In September final 12 months, the Centre had banned PFI and its related outfits for 5 years below a stringent anti-terror legislation, accusing them of having “links” with international terror teams like ISIS.
