Operation Kaveri: MoS of Ministry of External Affairs V Muraleedharan on Thursday stated 297 extra Indians have been rescued from violence-hit Sudan. With this second ship, in whole six batches, round 1,100 Indians have been pulled out from Sudan. Ship INS Sumedha, as a component evacuation mission ‘Operation Kaveri’, introduced stranded Indians in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

“#OperationKaveri continues in swift pace. Happy to receive 297 Indians at Jeddah carried by INS Teg. With this second ship and total six batches, around 1100 Indians rescued from Sudan have arrived in Jeddah,”  Muraleedharan tweeted.

Situation in Sudan extremely unstable: Foreign Secretary 


 

The safety scenario in Sudan stays very advanced and extremely unstable and India’s efforts have been to make sure security of Indian nationals, Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra stated on Thursday.

At a media briefing, he stated India has been in contact with all of the involved sides in Sudan with a concentrate on taking out Indians from the battle zones.

“Our focus has been to take out the Indians from the conflict zones to safer areas as soon as possible and then to bring them back home,” the overseas secretary stated.

Referring to India’s evacuation mission ‘Operation Kaveri’, he stated 360 Indians have been introduced again house and one other batch of 246 are reaching India quickly.

At current, he stated round 320 Indians are in Port Sudan and they’re being taken to Saudi metropolis of Jeddah.

EAM Jaishankar discusses Sudan scenario with UK

Jaishankar took to Twitter to share photographs of the Indian evacuees after their arrival on the Delhi airport.

“OperationKaveri takes more steps forward. Another 136 Indian Nationals have been moved to safety in Jeddah. They will come home soon,” he stated in one other tweet.
