Operation Kaveri: The first batch of Indians stranded in violence-hit Sudan left the nation onboard India’s naval ship below the evacuation mission ‘Operation Kaveri.’ External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Arindam Bagchi on Tuesday knowledgeable {that a} whole of 278 evacuees onboard INS Sumedha departed Port Sudan for Saudi Arabia’s Jeddah. 

“First batch of stranded Indians leave Sudan under #OperationKaveri. INS Sumedha with 278 people onboard departs Port Sudan for Jeddah,” Bagchi tweeted.

Operation Kaveri was launched on Monday by India to deliver again the stranded Indians from violence-hit Sudan. Sudan for the previous few days is witnessing a fierce struggle between the common military and a paramilitary drive. The struggle is a results of an influence battle between the military and a paramilitary drive. 

As a part of contingency plans to evacuate the Indian nationals, India has positioned two transport IAF plane in Jeddah and INS Sumedha at Port Sudan. 

The authorities had on Friday stated it was specializing in the security of over 3,000 Indian residents at present positioned all through Sudan. The lethal combating between Sudan’s military and a paramilitary group for the previous 12 days has reportedly left round 400 individuals useless.
