Oscars 2021: Ayushmann Khurrana’s Wife Tahira Is Super Excited As ‘Bittu’ Makes It To ‘Live Action Short Film’ Shortlist

Lijo Jose Pellissery’s ‘Jallikattu’, which was chosen as India’s official entry to Oscars 2021 in the category of Best International Feature Film, is no longer part of the race. The Academy announced shortlists for nine categories including the ‘International Feature Film’; however, ‘Jallikattu’ couldn’t make it to the list. The Malayalam action drama, which received critical acclaim, pipped movies like ‘Chhappak’, ‘The Sky Is Pink’, ‘Shakuntala Devi’ and ‘Serious Men’ to become official Indian entry for the 93rd Academy Awards.

A total of 15 films have advanced to the next round in the category of ‘International Feature Film’. Interestingly, movies from 93 different countries were eligible for this particular category.

Here’s the list of 15 films which are still in the race to bag the Oscar for Best International Feature Film.

Although, ‘Jallikattu’ is out of Oscar race, Guneet Moga and Ekta Kapoor’s ‘Bittu’ has made it to the shortlist of Live Action Short Film. One hundred seventy four films qualified in the particular category, according to the official website of the Academy. Only ten films including ‘Bittu’, ‘Feeling Through’ and ‘The Human Voice’ have advanced to the next round. The short film is now competing to find a spot in the final nomination list.

“Very exciting news but v persevering women I know who working at it! I’m in august company! Way to go team #BITTU,” Ekta Kapoor wrote while sharing the good news on Instagram.

Ayushmann Khurrana’s wife Tahira Kashyap, who presented ‘Bittu’ under Indian Women Rising initiative, expressed her excitement on social media. She couldn’t ‘contain her excitement’ and shared a boomerang video on her official Instagram handle.

Bittu, which is based on a true story, focused on the friendship between two school friends. Check out the trailer of the short film right here!
