Till date, 156 WSAs have been awarded, Gadkari added.

According to Gadkari, in order to advertise ease of doing enterprise for personal traders, the ministry has facilitated the purposes for grant of registration certificates to arrange automated testing stations and registered automobile scrapping amenities by National Single Window System (NSWS).

Currently, 18 states/UTs are stay on NSWS for accepting purposes for Voluntary Vehicle-Fleet Modernisation Programme (V-VMP), the minister mentioned.

The states/UTs stay on NSWS embody Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chandigarh, Delhi, Goa, Gujarat, Haryana, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, amongst others.

He mentioned the federal government has obtained purposes from 79 traders for organising registered automobile scrapping amenities throughout 17 states out of which, 48 are permitted by the respective states.

As per the info supplied by the minister, 8,220 previous autos had been scrapped in the nation from January 2022 until March 20 2023. The most previous autos had been scrapped in Uttar Pradesh (6,247), adopted by Gujarat (1,244 ) and Assam (357).
