A panchaloha idol was found deserted on the entrance of the Dugaiammman temple in Nelvoy village near Nemili town in Ranipet on Wednesday.

Police mentioned that it was round 8 a.m once they obtained an alert from residents and temple authorities that that they had found the idol on the entrance of the locked temple. Immediately, the police group and income officers, led by Ok. Sumathi, Tasildar (Nemili taluk), rushed to the spot to retrieve the idol. However, a piece of residents objected to it, claiming that the idol belonged to the village and ought to be positioned on the temple.

After greater than two hours of talks between income officers and residents, officers have been in a position to retrieve the idol from the spot. The idol, which weighs round 20 kg and dates again to the nineteenth century, was two toes excessive and featured a fantastically carved goddess who was seated on a lion, holding several types of weapons in her six fingers.
