Wahab Riaz, 38, performed his final worldwide match in December 2020 after presenting his nation in 27 Tests, 91 ODIs and 36 T20I matches. Known as one of the quickest tempo bowlers in Pakistan cricket, Riaz took 237 worldwide wickets.

Riaz thanked PCB Chairman Zaka Ashraf for trusting him with a ‘difficult activity’. Riaz’s first task can be deciding on gamers for the upcoming three-match Test collection in opposition to Australia which begins on December 14.

“I’m honoured to imagine the position of chairperson for the national males’s selection committee and I lengthen my gratitude to the Chairman of PCB Management Committee, Mr Zaka Ashraf, for entrusting me with this duty,” Riaz told PCB media. “The determination to contain former gamers in cricketing issues is commendable and I’m keen to work for the betterment of Pakistan cricket.

“Heading a selection committee is a difficult activity. We have a big Australia tour arising that’s half of the ICC World Test Championship 2023-25 cycle and a T20I collection in opposition to New Zealand that can permit us to develop a formidable unit main as much as the ICC T20 World Cup within the USA and West Indies in June subsequent yr.”

PCB continues to overtake Pakistan cricket with numerous new faces rising to guide the administration after the disastrous World Cup 2023 marketing campaign. Former captain Mohammad Hafeez not too long ago took the position of group director and can be given the duty of interim head coach for the upcoming Australia and New Zealand excursions.
