Phil Neville to Remain Inter Miami Coach in 2023: Club

Inter Miami stated Monday that head coach Phil Neville will return to lead the Major League Soccer staff in 2023 after agreeing phrases on a contract extension.

Inter stated in a press release that the previous England, Manchester United and Everton participant was the proper alternative to lead the David Beckham-owned staff after taking Miami to the MLS Cup playoffs this season.

“We are excited to continue our partnership with Phil and build on the foundation put in place this year,” Inter sporting director Chris Henderson stated.

“He has helped Inter Miami construct a successful tradition, and we really feel our processes, collaboration and communication have begun to bear fruit.

“We are ready for the road ahead and are confident we are heading in the right direction.”

Neville, who joined Inter in 2021 after a profitable spell as coach of England’s girls’s staff, stated he hoped to stay in Miami for “a long time.”

“I think we’re in the early growth period of this club, the early building process and I feel as if we’ve made great strides over the last two years, but by no means is the journey finished,” Neville stated.

“In 2022 we finished sixth in the league, we got into playoffs. But that’s not success, that’s progression. The expectation is to win.”
