Aviation regulator DGCA mentioned on Tuesday pilots and cabin crew members won’t fly in an plane for 48 hours after being vaccinated towards coronavirus. “If there are no symptoms after 48 hours, the air crew (which includes pilots and cabin crew) is fit to resume ‘unrestricted’ flying duties,” the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) mentioned in a round.

Air crew will likely be monitored for half-hour after taking the shot on the COVID-19 vaccination centre itself for any anaphylactic and idiosyncratic response, it mentioned.

“Air crew will be ‘medically unfit for flying’ for 48 hours after vaccination,” the DGCA mentioned.

If, after 48 hours, the pilot experiences any signs, she or he will likely be reviewed by treating doctor or his or her authorised medical attendant, it mentioned.

“Such pilots can be declared fit for flying duties provided they are asymptomatic without any medications and ‘medical care certificate’ to this effect to be obtained,” it added.

The DGCA mentioned if the medical unfitness interval post-COVID-19 exhibition is greater than 14 days, then a ‘particular treatment examination’ will likely be required to determine health for flying.
