Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday chaired a high-level meeting to evaluate the state of affairs regarding Indians in violence-hit Sudan, authorities sources mentioned on Friday. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, Air Force and Navy chiefs, top officials of overseas and defence ministries and senior diplomats attended the meeting held just about.

India on Thursday mentioned the state of affairs in Sudan is “very tense” and it’s focusing on guaranteeing the security and well-being of the Indian neighborhood, together with working on contingency plans and doable evacuation.

The Centre, in its newest advisory, has requested Indians in Sudan to not go to the Indian embassy within the nation’s capital Khartoum. Mohammed Hamdan Dagalo have been raging battle in violence-hit Sudan. 

The MEA on Thursday mentioned the bottom state of affairs in Sudan may be very ‘tense’. “We are counselling and telling them (Indians) how to stay safe. It’s an evolving situation. The embassy is functioning, but we have told people not to go in person there as that zone is seeing a lot of fighting. People don’t live there; nobody is inside embassy the building,” spokesperson within the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) Arindam Bagchi mentioned.
