PM Narendra Modi Meets Oscar-Winning Documentary ‘The Elephant Whisperers’ Makers Guneet Monga And Kartiki Gonsalves


New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday met Oscar-winning documentary `The Elephant Whisperers` producer Guneet Monga and director Kartiki Gonsalves. Taking to Twitter, PM Modi shared photos from the assembly with `The Elephant Whisperers` staff and wrote, “The cinematic brilliance and success of `The Elephant Whisperers` has drawn global attention as well as acclaim. Today, I had the opportunity to meet the brilliant team associated with it. They have made India very proud. @guneetm @EarthSpectrum.”

In the photographs, PM Modi may be seen posing with Guneet and Kartiki and with whereas they maintain their Oscar awards. Team `The Elephant Whisperers` made each Indian proud by successful Oscar on the ninety fifth Academy Awards for his or her documentary. 

Helmed by debutant Kartiki Gonsalves, the 41-minute quick documentary film explores the tentative but valuable bond between Raghu, an orphaned child elephant, and his caretakers – a mahout couple named Bomman and Bellie – who commit their lives to guard him from poachers and lift him. 

The venture, which is backed by Guneet`s banner Sikhya Entertainment, beat 4 different contenders to clinch the statuette within the Best Documentary Short Category, making it the primary Indian documentary and one in every of solely two Indian productions to win an Oscar (the opposite one being `RRR`). 

`The Elephant Whisperers` was nominated towards `Haul Out,` `How Do You Measure A Year?`, `The Martha Mitchell Effect,` and `Stranger At The Gate’. This is the second Oscar win for Guneet. She had beforehand served as an govt producer on `Period. End of Sentence`, which received the 2019 Academy Award for Best Documentary Short Film.
