Priyanka Chopra opened up about working in female-centric movies and going through failure on the field workplace.
Priyanka Chopra opened up about her female-centric movies not working on the field workplace and its affect on her. The actress, on Sunday, sat down for a masterclass with Bhumi Pednekar as part of the Jio MAMI Film Festival in Mumbai. Speaking with Bhumi and the viewers current within the room, Priyanka opened up about working in a female-led challenge and admitted that originally she would really feel like she has let down girls when her woman-centric movie wouldn’t work.
“There’s a lot of pressure when you have a female-led film, because we have so few, so when they don’t do well you feel the collective failure on behalf of all women,” Priyanka mentioned, as reported by Deadline. “I used to feel like I’ve taken women a few steps back, I’ve let women-kind down, because there are so few of us that get the opportunity to do this,” she added. Priyanka defined that now, she tackles such failures with a greater appraoch.
“But I’ve learned to pivot my mind around that – it’s not personal. When a movie works, it works because it has something to say. And if it doesn’t work, it didn’t say what it needed to say,” she mentioned.
Priyanka additionally revealed that she was informed actresses work in female-centric movies solely when they’re nearing the tip of their careers. Speaking about signing Fashion shortly after the success of Krrish, Priyanka revealed, “I signed on for the film right after Krrish, and was told that actresses only do female-oriented projects at the end of their careers so they can win a National Award.”
Today, Priyanka has headlines quite a lot of female-centric films. These embody Mary Kom, Saat Khoon Maaf and Jai Gangaajal.
