Process of registration of migrant workers very gradual, must be expedited: Supreme Court
The Supreme Court on Monday stated the method of registration of migrant workers is very gradual and it must be expedited in order that profit of schemes can be prolonged to them amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
While stressing on the necessity to register migrant workers, the apex courtroom stated the profit of schemes can be prolonged to them after they’re recognized and registered by authorities.
A bench of Justices Ashok Bhushan and M R Shah stated the federal government must make sure that profit of schemes attain beneficiaries, together with migrant workers, and the method must be monitored and supervised.
The prime courtroom stated it’s not happy with the efforts of the Centre in addition to the states on the problem of registration of workers in unorganised sectors.
The bench was listening to an utility filed by three activists who’ve sought instructions to the Centre and states to make sure meals safety, money transfers, transport services and different welfare measures for migrant workers who’re dealing with misery because of the curbs clamped in a number of components of the nation amid the pandemic.
