Puducherry Assembly polls: Union Territory sees 77.90 per cent voting till 6 pm

Puducherry: Puducherry registered a voter turnout of 77.90 per cent till 6 pm throughout its 30 constituencies, in accordance with the Election Commission (EC).

Karaikal district witnessed 76.74 per cent voter turnout whereas Puducherry district witnessed 78.14 per cent polling till 6 pm.

The Yanam constituency within the Union Territory recorded the very best voting share of 85.76 per cent till 6 pm, whereas the Mahe constituency witnessed the bottom voting share of 69.92 per cent.

A complete of 10,04,507 electors are deciding the destiny of 324 candidates.

Meanwhile, In Assam, the turnout within the third and ultimate part of voting was 78.94 per cent whereas in West Bengal, the place polls are being held in eight phases, the turnout within the third part was 77.68 per cent till 5 pm, the Election Commission stated in a press release.

Polling was held “peacefully”, the EC stated. Voting was held in 1.5 lakh polling stations throughout 475 meeting constituencies within the 4 states and the union territory of Puducherry.

During the continuing elections till this part, a file seizure of Rs 947.98 crore has been constructed from the 4 states and Puducherry as on April 6.

The seizure determine, which incorporates seizure of money, liquor, narcotics, freebies, is greater than 4.198 instances increased than the overall mixed seizure of Rs 225.77 crore within the 2016 meeting polls.
