Terming media stories as baseless, Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Tuesday dominated out any function of Prashant Kishor in finalisation of Congress tickets in the forthcoming meeting elections.

“There is no question of it. Kishor has no say in the matter,” stated the Chief Minister, amid stories of resentment brewing in the Punjab Congress over his newly appointed principal advisor Prashant Kishor deciding on the tickets.

There are set norms and patterns for ticket allocation in the Congress, that are adopted in all elections in all states, stated Captain Amarinder, including that Punjab was no exception. There is a state election committee arrange by the excessive command forward of any Assembly ballot, which considers all of the names and decides on the ultimate candidates, he identified, including that the shortlisted names are then despatched for scrutiny to the Screening Committee, comprising high celebration management, together with the Congress president. The remaining choice is taken by the Central Election Committee, with no particular person having any function to play, he added.

If the celebration sees any situations of native anti-incumbency it would deal with it the way in which it often does – by taking a look at options, and discovering one of the best match to make sure victory, Captain Amarinder stated, making it clear that this was a difficulty for the Congress, and never for Kishor, to think about and resolve.

“His (Kishor’s) role as my principal advisor is limited. It is only advisory in nature, with no decision-making authority vested in him,” added the Chief Minister.
