Punjab farmers have availed direct profit switch facility throughout ongoing Rabi procurement season

The Centre has stated that round Rs 17,495 crore have been transferred straight into Punjab farmers’ accounts through the ongoing Rabi advertising and marketing season towards procurement of crops made until April 30, 2021.

In addition to this, round Rs 9,268.24 crore in Haryana have been transferred straight into farmers’ account towards the procurement carried out until April 30, 2021, official sources stated.

An announcement issued by the Ministry of Food and Consumer Affairs stated that procurement for the present Rabi advertising and marketing season (2021-22) is being carried out as per the prevailing minimal assist value (MSP) and round 28.8 lakh wheat farmers have already benefitted from procurement.

This is for the primary time that the farmers of Punjab have began receiving funds straight into their financial institution accounts towards sale of their wheat crop, the ministry stated.

The assertion has come amid the continued farmers agitation, primarily from Punjab and Haryana, who’ve been in search of repeal of controversial farm legal guidelines which had been handed in Parliament final 12 months. They have been alleging that the Government needs to get rid of MSP.

Wheat procurement is occurring at brisk tempo in Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Chandigarh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and different states with buy value of over 292.52 LMT until May 2, 2021. This, the Government stated, is a rise of roughly 70 per cent towards final 12 months’s corresponding buy of 171.53 LMT.
