The Punjab authorities has introduced new workplace timings for employees so as to save power bills and enhance productivity. The authorities places of work in Punjab will now work from 7:30 am to 2 pm.
In the new schedule, the Bhagwant Mann authorities has achieved away with the half-an-hour lunch break. Still, employees will work an hour lower than earlier than.
For the following two-and-a-half months, the workplace timings are 7:30 am to 2 pm as a substitute of the standard 9 am to 5 pm.
New time-table to be adopted until July 15
The new work hours will stay in pressure until July 15 and end in an estimated saving of Rs 40-42 crore, in accordance to officers.
Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, who alongside along with his employees arrived at Civil Secretariat in Chandigarh at 7:28 am, went straight to his workplace earlier than later addressing the media. He stated the new work hours will be sure that most daylight is utilised in authorities places of work.
“Before implementing this decision, we talked to the employees and the people and they agreed (to the decision on the changed timings),” Mann advised reporters.
He stated the transfer will assist save power and added that “power is a big issue”.
Government employees, from IAS, IPS officers to superintendents and peons, had been seen heading to their respective places of work at many locations in Punjab earlier than the deadline of 7:30 am.
Cabinet ministers too adhered to the new timeline as they reached their places of work earlier than time.
