Punjab: Pakistani smuggler shot dead along IB in Amritsar; heroin, arms seized

A Pakistani smuggler who crossed over to India with round 22 kg of heroin was shot dead along the International Border (IB) right here in a joint operation of the Punjab police and the BSF, officers stated.

They stated there was particular details about the motion of Pakistani smugglers in the direction of the Indian territory with consignment of medication.

Acting on the enter, Punjab police group led by SSP Dhruv Dahiya along with Border Security Force (BSF) troops launched a joint operation on the Kakkar border outpost.

During the operation, motion of a Pakistani smuggler was observed. The smuggler fired on the Indian troops and was shot dead after they returned the fireplace, a senior police official stated.

A complete search operation was launched on the spot on the Indo-Pak border of the Indian aspect, the place troops seized 22 packets of heroin, weighing a complete of about 22 kilogram, two AK 47 assault rifles, 4 magazines, one cell phone with Pakistani SIM card, apart from Rs. 210 in Pakistani foreign money, police stated.

During preliminary investigation, it was discovered that the smuggler was identified to his two Indian counterparts who had been residents of Gurdaspur district and had been presently at Belgium and allegedly concerned in anti-India actions on the behest of Pakistan’s ISI company, the SSP stated.
