Aam Aadmi Party MP Raghav Chadha on Tuesday appeared before the Privileges Committee of Rajya Sabha and put forth his model on the feedback made by him in public on which he’s going through a complaint of breach of privilege of the House. Chadha can also be learnt to have tendered an apology before the panel and advised the members that he had met Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar too in regards to the matter.
Though Chadha got here before the panel throughout its assembly held within the Parliament House advanced, no choice has but been taken on the complaint, sources mentioned. The Privileges Committee of the Rajya Sabha is wanting into the complaint of breach of privilege towards some MPs, together with AAP chief Raghav Chadha. It can also be wanting into complaints towards MPs Sanjay Singh and Derek O’Brien.
The sources mentioned the committee has sought a report from Chadha by November 7. Both Chadha and Singh are at the moment suspended from the House. The assembly of the panel occurred after the Supreme Court made some observations in a case filed by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief towards his suspension. The apex court docket has requested Chadha to tender an unconditional apology to Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar on the choose committee challenge and hoped that the latter would take a “sympathetic” view on the matter.
A bench comprising Chief Justice of India (CJI) D Y Chandrachud and justices J B Pardiwala and Manoj Misra had requested Attorney General R Venkataramani to apprise it of the developments within the matter after the Diwali trip. The CJI has mentioned the lawmaker must meet the Rajya Sabha chairman to tender an unconditional apology on the problem.
The vice chairman, in flip, could take a sympathetic view of the whole matter and provoke additional steps on this regard, the court docket has mentioned.
