Former Congress chief Ghulam Nabi Azad, in his upcoming autobiography “ Azaad”, has revealed how Rahul Gandhi had “mismanaged” in coping with the management tussle in Assam between former Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) after rebelling in opposition to Mr. Gogoi.
The e-book, that guarantees to disclose a number of backroom tales and humourous anecdotes, can be launched on April 5.
However, the writer, Rupa, has put out an excerpt of the episode in the invite to the formal launch.
‘When we arrived at Rahul’s residence the subsequent morning, we noticed Tarun Gogoi and his son, Gaurav Gogoi, sitting with him. Rahul instructed us bluntly that there could be no change in management. We identified to him that Himanta had the majority of MLAs and would insurgent and give up the celebration. ‘Let him go,’ Rahul mentioned. The assembly was over,” Mr Azad is quoted as saying in the book.
“.. I’m not positive if Rahul mentioned this to say himself or as a result of he was ignorant that his determination would have far-reaching penalties, not solely in the state of Assam however the whole Northeast,” noted the author.
The former Congress veteran, who has worked with several Prime Ministers including Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi, P V Narasimha Rao and Dr. Manmohan Singh, then wrote how he called on the then Congress chief Sonia Gandhi to “apprise her of the twist in the story”.
“Despite understanding the disastrous penalties that lay forward, it’s reasonably unlucky that she didn’t assert herself as the celebration president. Instead, she requested me to request Himanta to not rock the boat,”Mr Azad has written.
In August final 12 months, Mr Azad had severed his almost 5 decade lengthy affiliation with the Congress over his distinction with the management concerning the functioning of the celebration and launched his Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) in Jammu and Kashmir.
