Chhattisgarh: Workers of Youth Congress and BJP’s Yuva Morcha clashed with one another on Saturday in Chhattisgarh’s capital Raipur over the disqualification of Rahul Gandhi as an MP. According to a police official, stone pelting injured activists on either side in addition to some cops. Following Rahul Gandhi’s disqualification as a Lok Sabha member, Youth Congress staff allegedly blackened posters of BJP leaders on the saffron celebration’s workplace in Ekatma Parisar on Friday night, he claimed. Earlier this night, Chhattisgarh Youth Congress protested towards BJP over the difficulty in Raipur. Police reached the spot quickly and stopped the Youth Congress staff, he mentioned. Following this, BJP staff reached the Congress celebration headquarters, Rajiv Bhawan, the place activists of each IYC and BJYM pelted stones at one another, he mentioned.

Activists from either side and some police personnel have been injured, he added. Both sides lodged complaints towards one another and probe was on, the official mentioned.

“State BJP president Arun Sao said Youth Congress workers, intoxicated by power, attacked his party’s office. They were trying to disturb the peaceful atmosphere of Chhattisgarh by taking law into their own hands,” he added. “It was unfortunate that the administration in the Congress-ruled state had become mute spectator,” he added.

Sushil Anand Shukla, Congress spokesperson, alleged that Bharatiya Janata Party “goons” attacked the state Congress workplace. “The Lok Sabha membership of our leader Rahul Gandhi was terminated through a conspiracy. When it is being opposed in a democratic way, the BJP is showing its ugly face here too,” he mentioned.
