The Rajasthan authorities on Thursday introduced a 2 per cent discount in VAT on petrol and diesel and a 4 per cent hike in dearness allowance of staff and pensioners forward of the overall elections. The choices will develop into efficient from Friday morning.

Speaking with reporters after the assembly, Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma mentioned, “There were discrepancies regarding the prices of diesel and petrol in Rajasthan. We have removed this anomaly and have reduced the VAT rate by two per cent.” He mentioned that on account of two per cent discount in VAT on petroleum merchandise and steps taken by oil advertising and marketing firms, the costs of petrol and diesel will come down within the state.
The Chief Minister mentioned that the decreased costs on petrol and diesel might be relevant from 6 am on Friday, March 15. This will put a burden of roughly Rs 1500 crore on the state authorities.
“We have removed the anomalies and also made diesel and petrol cheaper.” Similarly, the cupboard determined to extend the dearness allowance of state staff by 4 share factors. Sharma mentioned, “In line with the central government employees, we have increased the dearness allowance by four per cent. 50 per cent dearness allowance will be payable from January 1, 2024.” “Earlier, 46 per cent dearness allowance was being given to the state government employees. We have increased it by four per cent to 50 per cent.”
About eight lakh staff and 4.40 lakh pensioners will profit from the choice. This will put an extra burden of about Rs 1,640 crore on the state authorities yearly.
