New Delhi: Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday condemned West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s gesture to reach late for the cyclone Yaas overview assembly chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and depart in haste throughout his official go to to the state and stated “this is an unfortunate example of placing political differences over constitutional duty”.

Asserting the “Prime Minister and Chief Minister are not just individuals but institutions”, Singh stated such behaviour in direction of Prime Minister Modi is “painful”.

“Today’s developments in West Bengal are shocking, the Chief Minister and Prime Minister are not just individuals but institutions. Both undertake public service resolutions and take an oath of allegiance to the Constitution,” he stated in a tweet posted in Hindi.

The Defence Minister’s outburst in opposition to the Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo comes as she arrived late for the cyclone overview assembly and left in haste regardless of the Prime Minister’s presence.

ANI reported sources near the West Bengal Chief Minister as saying that the TMC chief and the state’s chief secretary arrived late by half-hour for the cyclone overview assembly regardless of being in the identical premises. Sources added that Banerjee upon getting into the overview assembly handed over the papers associated to the cyclone affect and left stating that different conferences have been lined up and left.
