The Rajya Sabha on Wednesday handed the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Bill, 2021 amidst a number of adjournments and the opposition staged a walkout. The Bill enhances the powers of the Lieutenant Governor (L-G) of Delhi.

During the dialogue over the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Bill, 2021 within the Upper House, BJD determined to not assist the Bill by not taking part within the voting amid loud protests. Calling the Bill anti-constitutional, YSRCP, Congress staged a walkout. 

Earlier within the day, Shiromani Akali Dal, AAP, TMC, DMK, SP, CPI (M) and RJD too joined the refrain as they registered dissent and asserted that the NCT of Delhi (Amendment) Bill ought to be referred to the choose committee.
