Ramban tunnel collapse information updates: The Centre has constituted a committee of three unbiased consultants to analyze the explanations for current collapse of part of under-construction tunnel in Ramban on Jammu-Srinagar freeway and counsel remedial measures.

State-owned National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has already initiated a course of to deal with such emergency state of affairs and in addition taking all attainable measures to keep away from such incidents in future, an official assertion mentioned on Sunday (May 22).

Before workers could be moved out, suddenly huge rock mass fell above the false steel portal erected for construction of adit which caved in leading to trapping of 12 workers at that spot,” the assertion mentioned.

Rescue operation by safety forces: 

Senior NHAI officers instantly reached the positioning and rescue work was instantly began by SDRF, NDRF, J&Ok Police, the assertion mentioned including two employees had been rescued instantly and had been hospitalized; and all attainable medical support is being prolonged to them.

It mentioned the trapped employees didn’t survive and our bodies of  10 trapped employees had been recovered by final Saturday night.

Those whose life couldn’t be saved are being given workman compensation and extra ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh by EPC contractor which quantities to at the very least Rs 15 lakh.
