Mumbai: The Southwest Monsoon arrived two days forward of its regular date bringing with it a deluge of rain prompting the Indian Metrological DepartmentĀ (IMD) to difficulty a pink alert for Mumbai and close by areas.
The climate division has forecast a ‘very heavy to extraordinarily heavy rain at remoted locations’ and issued a pink alertĀ for Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, and Raigad areas. While an orange alert has been issued for the subsequent 4 days.

āMonsoon has arrived in Mumbai today, normal arrival date is June 10 every year so it has arrived prior to the average arrival date,ā IMD Mumbai Deputy Director General Dr Jayanta Sarkar instructed ANI.
Heavy rains lashed Mumbai and suburbs inflicting water-logging at a number of locations and disrupting native practice companies.
The Central railway stated native practice companies between Kurla and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus have been halted resulting from waterlogging on tracks. āTraffic stopped at 9.50 am, decision taken as a precautionary measure to avoid any untoward incident. Traffic will resume as soon as water recedes,ā he stated.
Meanwhile, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray directed the authorities to make sure that the rainwater is drained out on the earliest and that transport resumes.
